The Jefferson has long been known as the most discerning hotel in Washington DC, catering to the world’s elite travelers. It pairs a powerhouse location near Penn Quarter just four blocks from the White House with a culture of service unlike any other hotel in the city.

The Jefferson is also near two Washington’s trendiest “new” neighborhood: Penn Quarter Penn Quarter, halfway between the White House and the U.S. Capitol, boasts more legitimate theaters than any other D.C. neighborhood, as well as numerous designer boutiques, destination restaurants, museums and galleries. The U Street Corridor shops, restaurants, nightclubs and galleries have made it the city’s hottest night scene.

Following a full-scale restoration that represents the hotel’s largest transformation to date, the historic Jefferson in Penn Quarter is once again welcoming guests as Washington’s finest small hotel.

Thomas Jefferson once said, “Every generation needs a new revolution.” At The Jefferson, Washington, DC, a revolution in comfort and hospitality is at hand.

With 99 exquisitely furnished hotel room and suite accommodations, The Jefferson, in Penn Quarter, enjoys a well-earned reputation as Washington’s finest small hotel. The European ambience of our hotel’s guest rooms evokes Thomas Jefferson’s cherished years in Paris while an extraordinary attention to detail conveys the sense that one is staying in a private home. These two influences blend seamlessly in our spacious suite and hotel room accommodations, where marble-tiled entryways lead to gracious parlors furnished in the style of a Parisian salon, with velvet couches and whitewashed writing desks perfectly placed on parquet flooring under beautifully hand-crafted chandeliers. Here, you might find a book on Monticello on your side table, or perhaps a vintage copy of Goode’s Best Addresses.

Two design schemes invite you to vary your Penn Quarter hotel room experience from stay to stay. One is a soothing palette of cream and white with green highlights, the other, a bolder tan and graphite with accents of cadmium orange. Toile draperies have been custom-created for each hotel room palette – the first portraying pastoral scenes from Monticello and the second depicting details from Jefferson’s most important architectural projects.

The enviable location of the The Jefferson near Penn Quarter – straddling the city’s political and social scenes at the corner of 16th and M Streets NW – puts guests in the center of it all. We hope you will join the new generation of “Jeffersonians” among our guests who make our fine hotel rooms and suites their Penn Quarter home in Washington DC.
